I am exactly the same. I made a Colette meringue skirt and self drafted the waistband and it has puckers which drive me crazy. I am getting better though. I go along to meditation and the talks by the Buddhist monks at the Buddhist Centre in Nollamara and I find them really helpful. I’m not Buddhist but I find their outlook on life and mindfulness is really great and helps me to concentrate on what is important in my life. The talks are also available online. You can check them out at: http://www.dhammaloka.org.au/downloads.html

Lovely to hear from you, Sarah. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, I guess we’re not alone, eh? Thanks especially for the link…I will do meditation myself as well as I also think the buddhist philosophy is a healthy one for me. It also looks like the center is really close to where I live! I’ve been looking for this for a long time, thanks for helping me find it. Maybe I’ll see you there some Friday evening
The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion is a really good book! I’m blogging about my experiences with self-compassion at http://www.theselfcompassionproject.com. I’ve used this book on my journey.
Hi Barbara and thanks so much for your comment! I’ve taken a look at your blog and I love it! I’m now a follower, so thanks for bringing it to my attention. I identify deeply with so much you write about and it’ll be nice to have someone alongside on the journey. Keep up the good work, it has reached me! I ordered the book off Amazon yesterday so should be here within a couple of weeks (well, alongside the BurdaStyle Sewing handbook, but you know, you’ve gotta have SOME sewing in there too…)
