Hi there!
This tutorial can now be found on my new blog! See you there!
Kat
I’ve learned a new craft…okay okay, I’m now addicted to scrapbooking – there, I’ve said it.
I swear it’s like crack. I’ve decided to make a wedding scrapbook album and went to spotlight for some stuff, since I had – well – no stuff. I bought the following (just so you know for every $100 spent I got $40 off…so I SAVED money)
Album, 30cmx30cm papers, smaller papers, various die cut doo dads, glue, and a few doo dads. That was all fine and dandy until I started. The big problem was with the paper from Spotlight (cheapo pac). When I glued stuff down the paper warped. Luckly I have a scrapbooking shop within 2 minute walking distance from our house (AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH – angel voices) and got advice. I came home with some card stock and some better quality papers and some more embellishments and a loyalty card
From there on in it was smoooooooooth sailing. It’s so fun and creative! I suppose what I love about it the most is that you can use anything from around the house too. I used old lace from garments I haven’t worn in years, old buttons, vintage beads etc…basically it was a great way to get rid of the various ‘crap’ hanging around the craft room.
Pics are coming soon when I’m done…and I’m almost there. But I had to take a break because my creativity has run out and I’m getting tired (damn). Scrapbooking – highly recommended. My only advice is to use high quality card stock as your backing paper and good scrapbooking glue. The rest is candy. You can spend as much or as little as you like on embellishments and stuff – or do like me and buy certain things and use other things from your stash.
Happy crafting!
Kat
Remember this? I got it from St. Vinnie’s for $0.50!
I thought the strawberries were uber cute and envisioned it as a top flap of a bag. When I got it home I started pairing it with fabric I had in my stash and heard angel’s voices when I put it with some dark denim I used to make a pair of skinny jeans (aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!). I designed a very simple bag pattern and came up with this beauty! I call her Strawberry Jam.
I’m very happy with the way she turned out! I think I’ll make more…so stay tuned!
Enjoy,
Kat
***Quick update folks! A moderator on the sewing forum I subscribe to informed me that the “mat thingo” is actually an old fashioned afternoon tea mat used to serve afternoon tea! How lovely!
Sorry so long no post, dear readers. Life has been busy to say the least. Today was a crazy crafting day (read: AWESOME!). So, all I can say is please check out the DIY wedding spot for all my goings on.
Tomorrow is strawberry rhubarb jam day, as I’m making small jams for my guests as favours! Stay tuned for that adventure tomorrow!
Enjoy,
Kat
